printmaking

Moses uses her Polymetaal press to make prints up to 13x19”. She enjoys creating many types of prints – etching, monotypes in series, and also collagraphs. The artist often works serially, continuing with the same plate, without wiping, just adding, re-forming, along the same pattern. The surface of collagraph plates specifically, are built up with a mix of dried organic matter (twigs, etc.) and paper, secured with layers of gesso. In these instances the raised parts stay the same (although they deteriorate with use) but the paint varies. Moses chooses to modify each print, so that they are relatives but not identical clones, variations within a series. Many of the prints echo the shapes and forms of her paintings. The lino prints specifically share affinities with her pen and ink drawings.
